Time for the Naming Ceremony of the Baby
- Namakarana
Namakarana (Naming Ceremony) is performed to give the name
to a new born baby. As per tradition, the naming ceremony
is performed by the father, whispering the name in child's
ear three times. This is repeated by other elders in the
family. It is customary to place a gold coin in the palm
of the child during the naming ceremony. Usually Namakarana
is performed on 10th, 11th, 12th or 16th day after the birth
of the baby, in which case no specific Muhurtha (auspicious
time) is required. Otherwise an auspicious time is fixed
as per astrological guidelines.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
- Favourable Stars
All Fixed Stars (Rohini, Uthram, Uthradam, Uthrattathi),
all movable stars(Punartham, Chothi, Thiruvonam, Avittam,
Chathayam), all friendly stars (Makayiram, Chithra, Anizham,
Revathi) and all dynamic stars (Aswati, Pooyam, Atham).
